The Hug Bug was created by a local engineer, after he was asked by parents whether he can also make a pressure roller for their child with autism. The end result was the Hug Bug.
Based on the designs of the Southpaw Steamroller Deluxe and the Moving Mountains Double Squeezer, he used his experience manufacturing assistive devices for children with cerebral palsy to improve on the design. The Hug Bug is manufactured 18 mm beechwood ply instead of 9 mm plywood, uses marine anti-bacterial vinyl instead of standard vinyl and also use bungee cord instead of standard stretch cord.
They will take about a month to manufacture and can be flat-packed to ship anywhere in South Africa (with assembly instructions included).
The Hug Bug measures 80 cm x 60 cm x 45 cm - can be stored quite easily in an upright position to keep it out of the way.
